Best minimal running shoe for the money 100%
I absolutely love these minimal running shoes and will gladly buy them for the rest of my life if the company continues to make and sell them. I’ve put over 1000 miles of trail running and hiking on my first pair (shown in pictures). While this pair has developed a small split in the sole which lets a little dirt in whenever I use them, I could honestly fix it with a small patch on the inside and still get many hundreds more miles out of them. I’ve had much more expensive vibram rubber soles that didn’t hold up this well. To be fair I rarely use them on paved surfaces, but theyve done hundreds of miles on the Appalachian Trail hauling a 60lb bag and over a thousand off road in Florida (roots, sticks, rocks, broken shells, pine cones, cactus, snakes, hogs, mud) I’ve have a couple of cactus needles penetrate, but expecting something this thin to stop them would be silly. They are so light with just enough protection to keep you using your feet and legs the way nature intended. The tops are kind of like a stretchy sock that hugs my feet perfectly. There longevity is honestly mind blowing when compared to much more expensive minimal shoes. I will be a customer for life 100% If y’all ever plan to stop making these please let me know so I can buy a dozen pairs to get me through the years I have left in these legs 👍

one of the best deals on Amazon
wonderful shoes. Lighter than a feather, fit me nicely, super comfortable. can feel the ground I walk on, nice traction. not sure if it can withstand trail-running. you’re getting a high-quality product for a wonderful price. then again, not sure how durable it is, but I have a feeling it’ll last a long while.

Extremely comfortable and stylish – but for casual use
I wanted to foray into barefoot tennis shoes because not every workplace accepts fivefingers or sandals, which are my preferred shoes. I used to be a very narrow toebox-wearer, as my feet are somewhat narrow and my arches slightly high, but I found they had a negative impact on my balance, comfort, and especially ability to climb. The toe box on these is bigger than the average shoe, and the fabric they are made of is extremely comfortable. However, you do not get the full range of movement and ability to spread your toes as you might in fivefingers- you do get most of it, I would perhaps ballpark 75%. That might be an issue for you if you have sensory processing difficulties, but it was not a large issue for me. Their versatility is also limited by the lack of water resistance- if you’re walking through the city or a muddy trail, or neglected suburban road with potholes, you will end up with dirty shoes, wet socks, and an extra chore when you get home- cleaning the fabric. Yes, you can toss them in the laundry, but that doesn’t help you during the day while you’re actually wearing them. Other than that, these shoes would actually be quite good for light bouldering; with a diamond cross grip pattern on the bottom that is essentially flat across the whole bottom of the shoe. They have firm supports along the side, right along my arches, that can be laced tighter- think corsetry- but this doesn’t equate to sufficient arch support for me personally when it comes to running, which was a little disappointing, but you could also attribute that to me being a relatively new barefoot runner (though I am not a new barefoot walker.)They are lightweight, and also look very nice and are great for school or the office, if that is where you find yourself. All that said, they are far superior to the average sneaker, and I wear them every week, at least a couple of times.

Gone, but not forgotten
I just retired just a after nearly a year of casual use, and my review is 99% positive. They’re very comfortable, well-constructed (the soles started wearing down a couple months ago, but the uppers still look new- no tears and all the seams are as tight as the day I got them). The price is right, too- for $43, I definitely got my money’s worth, and it’s a great way to see if barefoot shoes are for you. This was my first pair of barefoot shoes, but adjusting to them from fat-heeled, cushy Hokas was surprisingly painless. If you plan on actually running in them, probably stick to offroad- The soles are flexible and very thin, with no cushioning: you’ll definitely feel it if you pound the pavement or step on a rock. That’s my only complaint, and it applies to barefoot shoes in general, not just these.I’ve since purchased a couple other brands of barefoot/zero drop shoes, and where these Whitins really shine are the fit and style. Barefoot shoes should move with your feet, which these do very well- the sloes flex effortlessly and the uppers have just the right balance of padding and rigidity to lock on to my heels and stay comfortably in place through my stride. Even with thin socks, they never chaffed. I tried a different, more expensive Amazon-exclusive brand of barefoot trainers and my heel would lift nearly half-way out of them when I walked. If you’re comparison shopping, you’ve probably noticed that this type of shoe has a wide toe box, which tends to give them an unflattering “clown shoe” vibe (seller’s pictures tend to show their product at only flattering angles, but if you look at user review photos, you’ll see it). The model I bought-WHITIN Men’s Barefoot Running Shoes | Minimalist Cross-Trainer| – is just as wide as the others, but the wrap-around soles and the placement/shape of those plastic side panels gives them a *much * slimmer appearance.I couldn’t be happier with my purchase and will definitely be getting another pair soon!
